MSDYN365BC 2020 Wave 1 - Plan.

As we are aware of the modern lifecycle for Dynamics 365 Business Central.

Today Microsoft has Release #MSDyn365BC 2020 Wave1 Plan.

The 2020 release wave 1 for Dynamics 365 brings new innovations that provide you with significant capabilities to transform your business.


To start with  Key dates for the 2020 release wave 1 - 

This release plan describes functionality that may not have been released yet. Delivery timelines and projected functionality may change or may not ship

Milestone   - Release plans available
Date        - Jan 27, 2020
Description - Learn about the new capabilities coming in the 2020 release wave 1 (April 2020 – September 2020) across Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform.

Milestone   - Early access available.
Date        - Feb 3, 2020
Description - Test and validate new features and capabilities that will be a part of the 2020 release wave 1, coming in April, before they get enabled automatically for your end-users.

Milestone   - General availability.
Date        - April 1, 2020
Description - Production deployment for the 2020 release wave 1 begins. Regional deployments will commence on April 3, 2020.

What's new and planned for Dynamics 365 Business Central

Application enhancements Enhancement -

The Business Central ideas site (aka.ms/bcideas) is a constant source of suggestions for improving the application. For this release, we have updated minor features based on the feedback in the ideas site and have made several improvements to the bank reconciliation functionality.

  • Auto-insert recurring sales and purchase lines.
  • Enhanced customer and vendor document layout.
  • Manage direct-debit collections in Service Management.
  • Notify the requester about all changes for an approval request.
  • Receive more items than ordered.
  • Revert Qty. to Invoice when canceling order.
  • Bank reconciliation improvements.
  • Multiple languages.

Country and regional availability Enhancement -
Availability of Dynamics 365 Business Central is expanding regularly and here we describe the plans for expansion going forward.

Partner acceleration Enhancement - 

  • API for continuous delivery of the AppSource apps via Azure DevOps services


Migrations to Business Central online Enhancement - 

Moving from an on-premises solution to Business Central online is a major area of focus for our partners and customers. With the 2020 release wave 1, we further enhance the scenarios for migrating data from Dynamics GP, Dynamics SL, and Business Central (on-premises) to Business Central online.

  • Migrate data from Business Central 14.x on-premises to Business Central 15.x online.
  • Enhanced Dynamics GP Chart of Accounts migration.
  • Migrate all or only active customer master records from Dynamics GP.
  • Migrate all or only active vendor master records from Dynamics GP.
  • Enhanced Dynamics GP inventory data migration

Modern clients Enhancement - 

  • Disable export of data to Excel.
  • Enable non-interactive printing with advanced printer selection.
  • Enhanced mobile accessibility related to device orientation.
  • Import profiles and UI customizations.
  • Improved load time for pages.
  • Improvements to data entry.
  • Improvements to filters and views on lists.
  • Improvements to pages composed of multiple parts.
  • Navigate trees more easily.
  • Unhide parts on a page.
  • Collapse and expand document lines.

Modern developer tools Enhancement - 

  • AL interfaces.
  • Application version for aliasing base application.
  • Camera/location AL API is available in the browser.
  • Look up events and insert event subscriber in code.
  • Multiple variable declarations of the same type in the same line.
  • Obsolete tag and URL properties.
  • Ability to refactor a field from a table to a table extension.

Onboarding Enhancement - 

  • Improved onboarding experience

Power Platform Enhancement - 

  • Business Central integration with Common Data Service.

Service fundamentals Enhancement - 

  • Resource limits for reports and web service calls.
  • Telemetry in Application Insights for partners.
  • Read scale-out.

I will be waiting for Feb 3, 2020, to get Early Access of the Product. These are some interesting Enhancements that I would like to explore.
